Walbec Launches Energy Star Partnership with Asphalt Plants
At Walbec, we prioritize protecting the environment by working safely, sustainably, and ethically. By partnering with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR program, we can do our part to become more energy efficient at our asphalt plants.
In addition to the
partnership, we have committed three of our asphalt plants to join the ENERGY
STAR Challenge for Industry initiative, which challenges U.S. commercial and
industrial facilities to reduce their energy intensity by 10% in five years or
less. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, this could save
Americans approximately $20 billion and reduce greenhouse gases equal to the
emissions from about 30 million vehicles.
Walbec's environmental team has also been involved in creating
the National Asphalt Pavement Association's (NAPA) and Energy Stars
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and Environmental Performance Indicator
(EPI) tools. Active participation in these initiatives ensures Walbec will be
fully prepared to navigate any new regulatory changes and requirements for
bidding on federal and state-funded projects.
Getting involved early with
innovative programs that continue to elevate how we live our Walbec core values
ensures we remain on the cutting edge. From environmental initiatives to
ground-breaking new construction methods, Walbec is always looking for
opportunities to improve the quality of our products and projects.
