About the Project

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Walbec is proud to highlight our work on the H. J. De Baker Eagles Nest Park & Boat Launch project, located in Green Bay, WI. Brown County Parks commissioned our team to transform the former Eagles Nest Supper Club site into a fully functional boat landing area.

The project, which kicked off in Fall 2023, will see the park and boat launch open in late May 2025.

Our innovative approach to this project involved recycling the existing parking lot asphalt and aggregate base course, substantially reducing the need for imported aggregates. In addition, we sorted the existing break wall material to reduce the amount of underlayment stone required during the break wall’s construction.

One of the significant challenges we encountered during this project was the necessity of completing work below the water line. We utilized GPS technology to adhere to project parameters, demonstrating our commitment to employing cutting-edge technology to overcome hurdles and deliver high-quality results to our clients.

Northeast Asphalt and Payne + Dolan collaborated on this project and are thrilled to contribute to the local community through this beneficial park and boat launch area.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Team Walbec united the strengths and expertise of both Payne + Dolan and Northeast Asphalt, leveraging their combined talents to deliver a seamless collaboration. This strategic partnership played a crucial role in the successful transformation of the former Eagles Nest site.
  • This beautiful enhancement to the local community includes 74 boat parking stalls, 26 small vehicle parking spaces, four launch lanes, a kayak launch, picnicking and day-use areas, two bio-filtration ponds, a fishing pier, a boat cleaning station, a walkway, and green space on 4.54 acres of land.
  • The existing parking lot asphalt and aggregate base course were recycled, substantially reducing the need for additional aggregates.
  • The existing break wall material was also sorted to reduce imported underlayment stone during the construction of the break wall.
  • GPS technology is used throughout the project to ensure project parameters are met and increase efficiency.

While the project timeline was extended due to unforeseen circumstances, our team remained committed to strong coordination and collaboration with Brown County and the DNR. Together, we brought this meaningful community enhancement to life. The newly renovated site is poised to deliver joy, create lasting family memories, and provide endless summer fun for the Green Bay community for years to come.
