The Position:
Under the direction of the Area Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities on designated jobs to ensure that goals and/or objectives of the job are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and funding parameters.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Be a leader on all work sites by wearing proper PPE and espousing the Walbec value of Safety by regularly participating in morning huddles and following safety protocols/practices
- Runs less complex general contractor work
- Understands most specifications and knows when to ask questions
- Understands mix and Technical Services (TS) project-related issues.
- Establishes relationships with subcontractors and general contractors
- Understands difference between bid vs. quote jobs and their relevance
- Evaluates projects for quantity over and under runs effectively and efficiently
- Establishes and maintains strong client relationships
- Evaluates productivity and efficiency of field personnel and equipment
- Ability to read and understand standard job cost reports:
- Bid vs. actual
- Actual cost-to-date
- Job profitability report
- Billing worksheet
- Unbilled revenue
- Accounts receivable
- Daily production and cost reports
- Site assessment of existing and new in-the-field construction:
- Establishment of proper grades for drainage
- Soil analysis for proper aggregate thickness
- Existing pavement surface evaluation

The Location:
- This role is in the Gaylord area, but projects will vary by location throughout the local area, or the state, so willingness to travel to any job site is required as needed. A company vehicle will be provided.
The Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree, vocational training, certification from an accredited organization or combination of schooling and relevant work experience
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience working in Project Management within construction or manufacturing
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Working knowledge of DOT guidelines and regulations
- General industry knowledge with increased exposure to manufacturing and technical services
Preferred Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication, consulting, conflict management, and interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results
- Prior transportation industry and logistics experience
- Excellent client management and business literacy skills
- Manage multiple conflicting priorities
- Be self-directed and motivated
- Takes initiative to identify and anticipate organizational needs and make recommendations for implementation
