Our principal product is hot mix asphalt (HMA), which consists of a predetermined combination of aggregate and liquid asphalt cement. Our asphalt mix design process is formulated at AASHTO accredited laboratories in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois, to ensure that our asphalt mixtures provide the necessary support and exceed special customer requirements. These labs determine the proper type, size, shape, and combination of aggregates and liquid asphalt in each mix as well as conduct sampling, and quality control testing of all materials.
Each specially designed asphalt mixture is produced at Payne & Dolan and Northeast Asphalt plants strategically located to serve our customers. Our Quality Management Services team provides process control to ensure mix design requirements and customers specifications are met. HMA is generally produced in large quantities and then delivered to the hopper of an asphalt paving machine at the jobsite, leveled with the paver, and compacted to a specified density with rollers.
