Camp Randall South End Zone Renovation

The Camp Randall south end zone renovation introduced new premium seating and hospitality clubs to loyal Badger fans. These new spaces were not the only enhancements made to Camp Randall in 2022. The field turf playing surface also received an upgrade which is where our Payne + Dolan (P+D) team came in. Working with JP Cullen and the University of Wisconsin, P+D surveyed the Camp Randall field surface and developed a plan to provide the Badgers with an exceptional final product.

PROJECT SUMMARY

Construction began with prepping the playing surface and patching the required areas. The team then milled to variable depths to create consistent slopes that matched the other side of the field. Once milling was complete, the team surveyed again to ensure they put back the correct thickness in all areas to match the desired slopes, varying from .5% to 3% across the field. The field received 2" of hot mix asphalt (HMA).

With a tight project timeline, P+D worked efficiently and accurately, milling and paving over three days, including working through the rain on a Saturday.
