Kurt Bechthold

CHAIRMAN & CEO

Kurt Bechthold began his career at Payne and Dolan in 1990 and currently serves as chairman and chief executive officer of the Walbec Group family of companies, including Payne and Dolan, Northeast Asphalt, Zenith Tech, Premier Concrete, Parisi, and Construction Resources Management.

Kurt serves as a community leader for various civic and industry organizations. He currently serves on the board of Froedtert Health System, Siebert Lutheran Foundation, Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, Lake Express, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin, and the National Asphalt Pavement Association. Kurt is also a member of the Greater Milwaukee Committee.

Kurt previously served as chapter chair for the Young Presidents Organization of Wisconsin, chair of the National Asphalt Pavement Association, president of the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association, board member for Urban Land Interests, chair of Froedtert Health System, and chair of Siebert Lutheran Foundation. Kurt is a past advisory board member of US Bank Milwaukee and a past board member of the Next Door Foundation, Milwaukee Opera, and St. Coletta of Wisconsin.

Kurt earned a master’s of business administration degree from Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Wisconsin.


Mark Filmanowicz

PRESIDENT, COO & SECRETARY

Mark Filmanowicz is president, chief operating officer, and secretary of the Walbec Group family of companies.

Mark began his career at Payne and Dolan in 1994 as corporate counsel and was promoted to president and chief operating officer in 2013.

Mark is engrained in the community through his involvement with a variety of civic and industry organizations including serving as a board member of Lake Express – Milwaukee and Next Door Foundation. Mark is a past board member for QTI of Wisconsin, Hebron Hospitality Foundation, and Phi Gamma Delta House Corporation. Mark is a past volunteer for Junior Achievement of Wisconsin among others.

Mark attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a bachelor’s of arts degree. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from Marquette University Law School and is a licensed attorney in the state of Wisconsin.

David Bechthold

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

David Bechthold began his career with Payne and Dolan in 1983 and currently serves as the chief financial officer of the Walbec family of companies, including Payne and Dolan, Northeast Asphalt, Zenith Tech, Premier Concrete, Parisi, and Construction Resources Management.

He is actively engaged with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and the Boys and Girls Club Camp Whitcomb Mason in Merton, Wisconsin.

David earned his master’s degree in Business Administration – Banking and Investments and his bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in Structures and Transportation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Wisconsin.

John Bartoszek

VICE PRESIDENT

As the vice president for Zenith Tech and Parisi, Walbec Group family companies, John Bartoszek is responsible for managing the senior leadership teams as well as multiple facets of our business.

A professional engineer in Wisconsin and Michigan, he is highly regarded in the application of civil and geotechnical engineering principles into construction methodologies, processes, and technologies. John has over 20 years of managerial, operational, and construction expertise in heavy civil projects. His expertise spans major transportation infrastructure, damns, landfills, bridges, industrial site design, and foundations. John has served on multiple national and international task forces and has worked for the Federal Highways, National Cooperative Highway Research Program, and International Technology Scanning Program.

John earned a bachelor of science in geological and civil engineering from Michigan Technological University and is a registered engineer in Michigan and Wisconsin.

Linda Pawlak

VICE PRESIDENT

Linda Pawlak began her career with Walbec as an intern in college and joined the organization as a business manager of Northeast Asphalt upon graduation. Throughout her career, her role has evolved to meet the needs of the organization. She has been responsible for leading a variety of strategic initiatives including process improvements, large technology implementations, and Walbec’s re-branding. Additionally, she has served as the company’s leadership coach helping team members grow their careers. As vice president of strategic improvement, Linda leads a variety of strategic initiatives to help the organization grow and advance as well as providing leadership coaching.

Linda is passionate about helping leaders and teams reach their goals, particularly as they navigate change and personal growth. She believes that when we help individuals use their strengths to do the work they love, we collectively reach our destinations individually and as an organization.

Linda is active in her local community and a past volunteer for Junior Achievement of Wisconsin among others. She serves on the Advisory Board for HCSS, a software company dedicated to developing solutions for construction companies.

Linda earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She is also a registered Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach.

Brian Endres

VICE PRESIDENT

Brian Endres is a tenured Walbec Group team member, having started as a project manager in 1997. He currently serves as the vice president of manufacturing.

With a passion for giving back, he is involved in a number of professional and civic organizations. He is involved with City Forward Collective, a team of school leaders, educators, and passionate advocates working together to eliminate inequity by improving education opportunities in the inner city. He is the 1st Vice President on the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association (WTBA) board of directors and Vice Chairman of the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) Pavement Economic Committee.

Brian has a history of leadership in the construction industry, having served as the former Chairman of NAPA’s Impact Group, past President and executive committee member of the Wisconsin Asphalt Paving Association (WAPA), and former board member of the Aggregate Producers of Wisconsin. He has also been a Big Brother for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Milwaukee for more than 10 years.

Brian earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Wisconsin.

Monica Elles

VICE PRESIDENT

Monica Elles joined Walbec in 2022 as vice president of human resources. With a career focused on human resources, she has significant experience in consulting, talent acquisition, operations, and compliance. She has been at the forefront of considerable business changes such as mergers and acquisitions, onshoring, restructuring, and leadership changes. In her role, she embraces a philosophy that empowers team members to reach their full potential and collectively achieve organizational success. This allows her to partner with business leaders to deliver strategic change initiatives emphasizing an employee-centric approach to building a culture of commitment, trust, and success.

Monica is passionate about personal development and volunteers as a youth girls’ basketball coach with the Wisconsin Lakers. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Writing-Intensive English from Marquette University and was a member of the women’s basketball team.

Todd Hughes

VICE PRESIDENT

Todd Hughes began his career with Walbec as a summer employee working on a crew and then as an intern throughout college. After graduation, he joined the team as a project manager and gained valuable experience working at our asphalt plants and aggregate sites and in scheduling and operations management. In 1999, Todd became the area manager for the Milwaukee area and joined the senior leadership team as the Vice President of Payne and Dolan south construction in 2018.

He is actively involved in a variety of industry organizations including the Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association, National Asphalt Paving Association, South Suburban Chamber of Commerce, Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association, Associated General Contractors, and the Wisconsin Underground Contractors Association. He has also served as a panelist for a number of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) program meetings to help educate DBE contractors on work processes.

Todd earned a master’s degree in business administration from Marquette University and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Brian Enders

VICE PRESIDENT

Brian Enders began his career at Northeast Asphalt as an intern during the summer of 2004 where he worked on a paving crew. Throughout college, Brian interned every summer and in 2007, he joined the team as a project manager. In 2017, Brian became the area manager for NEA South and in 2019, he joined the senior leadership team as vice president of Northeast Asphalt.

He is actively involved with a variety of professional organizations and in the local community. Brian currently serves on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Asphalt Paving Association, the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) at Auburn University, and the Fox West YMCA in Greenville, Wisconsin. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching youth basketball, football, and baseball.

Brian earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in construction management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is also a graduate of the Leadership Fox Cities program through the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce.
