Northeast Asphalt Honored by Department of Defense with Patriot Award

Kurt Bechthold, CEO and Chairman of the Walbec Group family of companies, was presented with a Patriot Award on Tuesday by ESGR representative Bill Rheingans, in recognition of extraordinary support of an employee serving in the Wisconsin Army National Guard.

According to Rheingans, “Mr. Bechthold was nominated for this prestigious national award by Sergeant Landon James, a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard assigned to the C Co 2-127, Fond du Lac, WI.” The Patriot Award is only presented to employers who not only hire Guard and Reserve members, but also demonstrate superior support to the military employee and his/her family. The National Guard and Reserve Forces are the cornerstone of our national defense. Mr. Kurt Bechthold provided outstanding support and cooperation and has exhibited a patriotic spirit which is reflected in the significance of being a recipient of the Patriot Award.”

The Walbec Group is honored to receive this award. Northeast Asphalt, Inc., as well as all companies within The Walbec Group, strive to develop and promote a diverse and inclusive culture where we are deeply committed to supporting employees in the National Guard and Reserve and their families. It’s important to recognize and acknowledge the service and sacrifices made, as well as be able to provide employees the comfort and security knowing their jobs are safe and families are provided for while away on duty.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. The National Guard and Reserve Forces are the cornerstone of our national defense. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD.
