The Position:

  • Collaborate, develop and implement strategies for developing a strategic plan for acquiring new properties that align with the company’s growth objectives on a DOT, regional and global level.
  • Identify and secure both undeveloped lands for development of aggregate sources and existing aggregate operations that meet the needs of the strategic plan evaluating such factors as location, geology, market needs, and permitting regulations
  • Maintain good communication and strategic relationships with various stakeholders including land owners, contractors, and government officials.
  • Identify and contact landowners and other parties with interest in desired properties.
  • Negotiate and draft leases and purchase contracts with landowners on favorable terms.
  • Oversee and manage the due diligence process for evaluating potential property acquisitions including site conditions, environmental assessments, zoning, permitting and operations.
  • Prepare evaluation and feasibility reports for potential property acquisitions
  • Liaison with Environmental Manager on new property acquisitions.
  • Navigate the permitting and approval process with local government and regulatory agencies, ensuring all necessary permits are obtained for property development that meets the company’s needs.
  • Review local planning and zoning ordinances to determine the required zoning and/or permits necessary for extraction.
  • Prepare detailed zoning and permit applications for new conditional and land use permits.
  • Represent the company by attending and speaking at county board, town board and other governmental meetings.
  • Facilitate compliance with any conditions of approval given by local governments.
  • Review and comprehend various engineering, environmental and land use plans and ordinances
  • Work with safety manager, manufacturing managers and field personnel to learn MSHA laws and regulations and promote safety within the organization.

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, business administration, construction management or related.
  • Minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in real estate, land development, or comparable experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • AUTO CADD, GIS or other computer design software experience preferred
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • Take initiative to identify and anticipate organizational needs and make recommendations for implementation
